What to check before booking a move

Ask for a written quote listing the work. It makes comparison clearer than a starting price alone.

• Is the price hourly, volume-based, distance-based or a fixed package?
• Is there a minimum booking time, and how are partial hours rounded?
• Are vehicle dispatch, return travel, fuel and parking included?
• How do floors, lack of a lift and the carrying distance affect pricing?
• Are packing and furniture assembly included? Who provides materials?
• Is there a separate charge for very heavy or large items?
• What happens if you wait, reschedule or cancel?
• How are the condition of belongings, damage and liability documented?

Send everyone the same information

Addresses or districts, date, floors and lifts, furniture list, box count, photos of large items and the work required. Confirm final terms with your chosen provider.

Quote request template

I need a move on [date] from [area, floor, lift] to [area, floor, lift]. Items: [furniture list and box count]. Help needed: [loading, packing, disassembly, assembly]. Parking-to-door distance: [description]. Please send the price, included work, possible extras and change terms.

How to compare two quotes

A van-only quote is not comparable with a van and two movers. Align the addresses, date, crew size, materials and work before comparing.

For hourly quotes, compare the minimum time, when billing starts and rounding. For fixed prices, check which changes to the scope may increase the price.

Before confirming the booking

• Save the agreed list of belongings and tasks.
• Confirm the moving-day contact and how to communicate delays.
• Ask how completion and any damage are recorded.
• Do not rely on a verbal “everything included” without a list.
